I Love my Human

As a pet designer I have been asked many times to collaborate with animal campaigns of all sorts. I took each one to heart... sometimes a heavy heart, and designed for them with passion, inspired by the love I have for my own animals... And there were many... animal cruelty campaigns, puppy mill campaigns, adopt a pet campaigns... fix a pet campaign... and rescues of all kinds.

I have met some incredible animal lovers during this time and one thing I have to say... when you meet people through your animals, the connections are amazing! It comes from the purest hearts!

Probably just like you I have been tormented by images of puppy mills and suffering animals, and having a hard time myself facing and dealing with such evil I decided it was time for me to begin a NEW animal campaign This time an optimistic one that would reinforce positivism and raise awareness to responsible pet ownership and mutually committed love!

This way, "I Love my Human" was born in my heart and this is where it will live for as long as I am around. It is my personal attempt to educate, teach by example and thus prevent animal abandon and cruelty!

This campaign is designed to be a tribute to all you phenomenal pet lovers able to nurture love for life and to the amazing animals that love humans unconditionally.

Through the many lessons I have learned from my own animals... there is one that stands out: COMMITMENT!

Committed and unconditional love!

So for all of you out there that have been enlightened by your pets... If your beloved animals could talk, they would say it out loud with pride:

"I L O V E M Y H U M A N"

Are you a responsible and proud pet owner? A rescuer? An animal adovcate? A formidable animal trainer? Join our voice by visiting our campaign site: www.ilovemyhuman.org

"I Love my Human" will be contributing to several foundations and organizations that are dedicating their time to raise and train service animals to love and care for human kind. A few on our list, just to get you thinking:

Greg Wright's new business venture has some tails wagging in the K9 fashion world.

Wright is one of the owners of Fleur de Pup, a Beaumont-based online pet boutique that sells upscale pet apparel and accessories, including shirts, coats and beds as well as a line of pet spa products including shampoo, cologne and facial scrub.

"People humanize their dogs," Wright said. "People tend to view their pets as extensions of their family."

Sometime this year, Wright said he will start selling exclusive Fleur de Pup clothing and accessories that Miami-based designer Kiki Hamann is creating.

The designs all will incorporate a fleur de lis and all will be two-sided so customers can get two outfits out of one, Hamann said by phone Tuesday from her office in Miami.

"The fleur de lis is so very beautiful and classic and timeless," she said. "When dog fashion became popular, it became too costume-like. I am bringing excellence back and giving it functionality."

Hamann said Hollywood actor Dennis Di Angelo will help her model some of the designs she creates for Fleur de Pup.

Di Angelo said in a phone interview Tuesday that he thought the Beaumont-based company's exclusive line would be popular in the dog fashion world, since many dogs in the Los Angeles area sport clothes and accessories with a fleur de lis design.

The idea for Fleur de Pup seemed natural, Wright said, because he and his business partners - wife Rebecca, Amar Patel in Dallas and Chris Rohrer in Austin - are dog lovers.

"Whenever I would go out of town I would purchase something for the house sitter's dog," Wright said. "I was shopping in Chicago and saw everyone around me and thought 'There must be money in this.'"

Later this year, Wright said Fleur de Pup will launch a pet fashion blog to keep people up to date on the latest trends in canine couture. Hamann, who sells pet apparel and accessories under the Fufu & Fifi brand name, will be a main contributor.

Hamann said through the blog she will describe the textures of the fabrics she uses for her designs, since the feel of an outfit is important for many pet owners.

"It's exciting," Hamann said. "Only dogs can get a designer, an actor and a business person together."

oh…my…dog! What would Rachel Zoe say to these new pet carriers from Christian Audigier? We dig, we dig! Not only are they every bit as beautiful (and, yes, every bit as expensive) as their purse counterparts, these covetable carriers come with crystals and charms — they’re outrageous, luxurious, so so mod.

Designer and fashion icon Christian Audigier made his name as the ‘king of jeans’ and his designs are celeb favs। Now he’s putting that trendsetting style towards the real stars in our lives — our dogs!

The Pampered Puppy Product Review

Fashion: Pink reversible ultra suede dog harness

200904-5a.jpgSuper stylish for spring! We're excited about the Hermes Pink Reversible Ultra Suede Harness. Inspired by an Hermes scarf, this harness designed by Fufu Fifi by Kiki Harman features a chic sepia-toned doggie lovers design showcasing adorable drawings of both pups and purses. With its light brown ultra suede flip side, this harness is stunning for a day on the town no matter which side is worn. We're picturing a chic chihuahua wearing this confidently from its vantage point inside a purse, but there are certainly sizes for bigger pooches, too. Ooo, sizing tip!: Though all the sizes are flex and accommodating as they are velcro adjustable, the XS is the most flexible size.

We Still Have a Saying Over What They Wear

As I sit by my Atelier, glancing at a pile of Dog Fashion Magazines, I cannot help but reflect... What a revolution it has been! Yes, Canine Fashion has come a long way, but one thing has remained truthful.

Dogs are living lifestyle statements!

Unlike our human kids, we still have a saying over what they wear! Add massive doses of unconditional love to this picture and what you get is Stylish Love on the go that instantly markets itself. Powerful isn't it? Even the Egyptians knew it!

Not too long ago, dog fashion was more of a Crafty Art, something usually done by women in their spare time with whatever materials were available. It was improvisation at its best.

We all remember dog sweaters with big turtlenecks walking around carrying little Chihuahuas! Ahhhh, we have seen it! Somehow, in time… a new outlook was born and dog fashion became Canine Couture. Should we blame it on Hollywood? Perhaps… and we are all guilty of contribution.

The desire to socialize our dogs and facilitate their acceptance in society has generated what is now today’s biggest trend. Our dogs reflect our personal fashion sense; they are expressions of our style. Having said that I will share my observations:

Today’s hot dogs wear:

  • Bold Colors not afraid of attention! Colors are loud this summer. Look for citrusy limes, oranges, cantaloupes and turquoises pairing up with hot pinks, reds and fuchsias. Save your neutrals for the winter time. Then, they will be grand.

  • T extured Surfaces – Ultra Suede, Faux Skins, Canvases, Neoprene, Denim, Organic Cotton, Appliqués of all kinds.

  • Timeless Patterns and Symbols- Fleur de Lis, Crests, Crowns, Symbols of all kinds as well as generation statements such as the hippy wheel.

  • Hardware – Obvious and not hidden! Bright Silver is back, so are chains and medals. Function ality is in!

  • Tailored Fit – a tailored cut has substituted the bulk easygoing tees and hoodies. Look for vest harnesses, dresses that contour the dog’s natural shape. Which brings me to say… fit dogs are in!

  • Big Dogs in clothing is probably the hottest trend now. Okay big guys, you have won the right to dress up and show off!

  • As for jewelry,… pearls are out, crystals are in! Spiky collars are also exiting the scene. Big, thick and luxurious necklaces and jewelry-encrusted collars embellish necks of all sizes. Think wide! And for those of you who can’t resist a charm for the daily collar, think unique items, outside the pet aisle to substitute tradi tional bones and paws.

Moving out of the dog fashion scene:

  • The baby look! Our dogs have grown up, substitute the old-fashioned baby pink for a hot fuchsia and a for that baby blue, how about a vivid turquoise instead?

  • Dog Shoes are out! Nail color instead… Opi for dogs, anyone?

  • Dog Costumes… Unless is Halloween… keep your tutus and costumes in the closet . Elegant wear is hot.
  • Turtle necks and long sleeve outfits… the weather dictates: bare necks and dog cologne!

I wonder how my dog evaluates my sense of style… hmmmm

That is a whole new article!
